LeBron James will be flagbearer of USA in Olympics’24

Flagbearer is one of the leading positions in which the athlete presents his country. Many U.S. athletes select LeBron James as a male flagbearer for the USA country.

It is among the most precious and honored for any athlete to represent the country. LeBron James is one of the most recognizable sportspersons across the country.

Lebron is currently 39 years old and he has been playing basketball for 21 years. Currently, he is a leading star player of the Los Angeles Lakers.

“It’s an incredible honor to represent the United States on this global stage, especially in a moment that can bring the whole world together,” Los Angeles Lakers power forward James said in a statement from the USA Basketball.

The ceremony to represent the country will take place on the river Seine. His female partner – as a flagbearer- name will be announced on Tuesday.

“For a kid from Akron, this responsibility means everything to not only myself but to my family, all the kids in my hometown, my teammates, fellow Olympians and so many people across the country with big aspirations.

“Sports have the power to bring us all together, and I’m proud to be a part of this important moment.”

LeBron James won Olympic gold medals for basketball in year 2008 and 2012. Also, he is the four-time NBA champion. This honor will put him on the history page during the inaugural ceremony, the first male basketball player lifted the American flag.

On the other side, Two-time MVP and Milwaukee buck’s champion player Giannis Antetokounmpo will represent Greece in the ceremony.

Apart from Bird and LeBron, Dawn Staley – A former basketball player and current basketball coach – held the American flag at the Athens Games in year 2004.

The ceremony will take on Friday 26th July. This will be special because it will be the first inaugural event to be held outside of the arena. Athletes will travel in the boat through the River Seine to the Eiffel Tower.
